Interventional Neuroradiology
What is needed for neurointerventional endovascular procedures?
Accessories:
-

Peripheral angiographic catheters
Diagnostic angiographic catheters (Merit Medical, Terumo) with reinforced shafts for stable torque control and kink resistance. Tip shapes include Simmons, Vertebral, Headhunter (HH), Judkins Right (JR), and MPA. Available in both hydrophilic and standard versions, with lengths from 40 to 150 cm — an optimal choice for different anatomies and access types.
-

Introducer catheters
Prelude Roadster long guide sheaths for stable vascular access. The hydrophilic coating facilitates passage through tortuous segments, while the reinforced construction provides catheter support during interventions. Available with different tip types and in lengths up to 90 cm.
-

Diagnostic guidewires
Guidewires (Merit Medical, Terumo) for catheter navigation. Available in hydrophilic and non-hydrophilic versions, with different stiffness levels and lengths of 150 / 180 / 260 cm. They provide controlled advancement and good compatibility with most systems.
-

Vacuum syringes
VacLok vacuum syringes with plunger locking for stable negative pressure. Available in 20, 30, and 60 mL volumes — convenient for controlled aspiration without continuous manual effort.
-

Pressure infusion bags
Merit Medical pressure infusion bags available in 500 / 1000 / 3000 mL volumes. Safety valves and one-handed control simplify use during prolonged procedures.
-

Hemostatic valves
Hemostasis valves for maintaining system integrity. A wide range of configurations allows use with various instruments without pressure loss and reduces the risk of air embolism.
-

High-pressure tubing
High-pressure tubing for contrast delivery and flushing. Transparent walls provide visual flow control and improve procedural safety.
-

Vascular closure devices
Hemostasis systems (vascular closure devices): Merit Medical (PreludeSYNC), Terumo (Angio-Seal, TR Band). Solutions for closure of femoral and radial access sites, ensuring rapid hemostasis and early patient mobilization.
Thrombectomy:
-

Microcatheters
Microcatheters (iNdeep, iVascular) with variable stiffness and hydrophilic coating. Available with inner diameters of 0.017", 0.021", and 0.027". The optimal length and flexible distal segment support effective work in distal vessels, while radiopaque markers ensure precise positioning.
-

Aspiration catheters
iNstroke thrombectomy catheters (aspiration catheters / thrombectomy catheters). Available in 6F for maximum aspiration efficiency and 4F (155 cm) for access to distal segments. Reinforcement and nitinol coils provide kink resistance and good trackability even in complex anatomy.
-

Distal access balloon catheters
The iNedit balloon guide + distal access catheter is used for interventions at the M1–M2 level. Balloon inflation in the petrous-cavernous segment provides flow control and pressure reduction in the extraction zone, increasing first-pass clot removal efficiency. The device combines support, proximal occlusion, and aspiration in a single system.
